Hyperbolicity of Grad’s extension of hydrodynamic models for ionospheric plasma

چکیده
We investigate the hyperbolicity of the 5, 8, 10, 13 and 16moment Grad systems for two species of particles under the quasineutrality hypothesis. The analysis is based on an asymptotic expansion with respect to the mass ratio. We show that the hyperbolicity of the systems which involve the heat flux as an independent variable requires a limitation on this heat flux.

Hyperbolicity of Grad’s extension of hydrodynamic models for ionospheric plasma. Part 1: The single species case
We present the fluid equations derived by Schunck following Grad’s approach to solve the Boltzmann equation for near maxwellian distribution functions. We study the hyperbolic part of these systems usually referred to as 5, 8, 10, 13 and 16-moment approximation. We show that the hyperbolicity of the systems involving the heat flux as an independent variable always requires a limitation on the h...
متن کاملFirst mesospheric in-situ measurement in Iran using sounding rockets and plasma impedance probe (PIP)
This paper reports on the progress for the first development of rocket probe for in-situ measurement of ionospheric plasma parameters in Iran. The designed probe known as Plasma Impedance Probe (PIP) will be used to measure the electron density, electron-neutral collision frequency, background magnetic field, and temperature in the mesospheric and in the altitude range of 70 km to 150 km. This ...
متن کاملCombining Neural Network with Genetic Algorithm for prediction of S4 Parameter using GPS measurement
The ionospheric plasma bubbles cause unpredictable changes in the ionospheric electron density. These variations in the ionospheric layer can cause a phenomenon known as the ionospheric scintillation. Ionospheric scintillation could affect the phase and amplitude of the radio signals traveling through this medium. This phenomenon occurs frequently around the magnetic equator and in low latitu...
متن کاملHydrodynamics from Grad’s equations: What can we learn from exact solutions?
Abstract. Adetailed treatment of the classical Chapman-Enskog derivation of hydrodynamics is given in the framework of Grad’smoment equations. Grad’s systems are considered as theminimal kineticmodels where theChapman-Enskogmethod can be studied exactly, thereby providing the basis to compare various approximations in extending the hydrodynamic description beyond the Navier-Stokes approximation...
متن کاملInvestigation of the effects of geomagnetic storms on ionospheric irregularities using the combination of ground-based GNSS and SWARM satellites
Geomagnetic storms are one of the main causes of ionospheric perturbations in different sizes, depending on their intensity, which could disturb radio signals passing through this medium. On September 6-12, 2017, the sudden storm commencement (SSC) was the most massive geomagnetic storm of the year due to the X9 solar flare caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME). IMF-Bz and Dst values increase...
